What is a zine?A zine / fanzine is a collection of fanworks, usually illustrated or written, created by and for the fans of a piece of media or story. Zines can be digital, physical, or both.Will the zine be physical or digital?The zine will be digital and will be posted as a PDF.What kind of content will be in the zine? Is AU content allowed?The zine will be PG-13 and is focused on depicting canon events of the Unstable SMP. Therefore, AU content will not be allowed. However, there will be considerable flexibility given in depicting the canon events.Will the zine be free?Yes! The final zine will be posted as a PDF for everyone to enjoy. We will also have a fundraiser set up for a charity (TBD).Will contributors receive compensation?Because this is a free online zine, all contributor work is unpaid.How many contributors are you looking for? What parts of Unstable SMP will be covered in the zine?We are looking for about 35-45 contributors; these numbers are not exact. The zine will focus on events up to and including the LAW finale, and may include the events of the Civil War Arc.What are you looking for in a contributor? Do I need previous zine experience to apply?No, you do not need previous zine experience to apply! See specs for more details on what we’re looking for in contributors.Can contributors collab?Yes, collaborations will be allowed! More details will be given once applications are reviewed.What mediums will the zine accept?The zine will contain visual and written work. Zine Specs

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTApplicants must be at least 16 by the end of the application period.Zine DimensionsEach page will be 2480 x 3508 pixels at 300 DPI, so spreads will be 4560 x 3508 pixels.Artist ExpectationsArtists are expected to create one fully colored and rendered piece or the equivalent in your art style with a background or design layout (exceptions may be made for comics). Depending on the event you are depicting, you may be expected to include multiple characters in a single coherent piece. There is flexibility in what is considered a "complete" drawing.Traditional art is allowed as long as you can provide a clear scan/photo of your piece.Spot artists are expected to create small, polished illustrations that are less than one page in size to accompany a writing piece. Spot illustrations are incorporated into the final layout of the writing piece.Writer ExpectationsFor prose, writers are expected to complete a work no longer than 3k words and no shorter than 1k words.Poetry is free form. Please note that we will generally expect you to use the same font size as prose writers.ExamplesFor some examples of the staff members' own work that would be accepted as a zine piece, see here.
